Bose enters the smart speaker market thanks to some help from Amazon Alexa

Bose is a brand that is synonymous with innovative music systems. Now, having never owned a Bose system, and not really ever been blown away when hearing one, it’s hard to say if Bose’s innovation was just hype or the real deal. Regardless, Bose is a name that is linked to high-end audio speaker technology and today it has announced it will bring that reputation to the smart speaker market.
The Bose Home Speaker 500 will retail at $399.95, but seeing it will include Amazon Alexa smart speaker technology, you can bet Amazon.com will offer it around the $350 mark at some point.
Bose really needs to demonstrate why someone should pay $400 for a smart speaker
The Bose Home Speaker 500 also brings you:
Bluetooth
- Wifi
- Proprietary 8-mic array
- A little display screen to show album covers
- Not much else
Bose really needs to demonstrate why someone should pay $400 for a smart speaker that uses Alexa–found on Echo smart speakers for less than $100–and uses a display screen that has no touch capacity and doesn’t really do much.
Still, if your ear is already attuned to Bose speakers, you’ll probably love it!
The company is also introducing a home theater targeted Soundbar 700 and Soundbar 500 both with Alexa too and starting at $549!
