Research shows smart speakers are the death of screen staring? Not so fast!
PC Mag shared an interesting chart that shows a decrease in certain activities due to the increase in smart speaker ownership.
As you can see, smart speakers are helping owners to reduce the amount of time they waste on other devices. However, PC Mag went with the angle that smart speakers are replacing devices that have screens. Their post title read Smart Speakers Starting to Replace Devices With Screens. The actual post implies that smart speakers are going to be the death of our use of TV, computers, tablets, and phones “as more tech users try to wean themselves off screens.”
Not so fast!
Smart speakers cut down the need to pull up an app in order to turn on a lamp or fire up our desktop browser in order to check the day’s weather.

Smart speakers cut down the need to pull up an app in order to turn on a lamp or fire up our desktop browser in order to check the day’s weather.
In reality, smart speakers are cutting down time wasted on a device with a screen, not killing it! And, what happens to the research when we find more smart speakers add a screen?
